A fun hair clip

It is unfortunate that there are not many crochet hair clip patterns out there. Maybe, I am the strange one that likes to stick barrets in my hair. But, if you like them too this may cure your search for a short while. Here is a easy pattern for a wavy hair clip that you can get a little creative with yourself. On the last row I did three dc in the front loop, and one sc in the back loop all try way across.

Blazer

It's hard to find a good fitted sweater, that is attractive. So when I saw this pattern for a tailored blazer in The Best of Woman's Day Crochet copyright 1971, I really wanted to make it. Well, I finally got past the stage of eyeing it down in the book, and made it. It actually fits me! I'm thinking about increasing the cuffs/trimming.

A Cinch Baby Sweater

While browsing through the patterns my grandmother gave me, I stumbled across a very old baby sweater pattern. I set to work, and shortly found the pattern to make little sense. After ripping it out over and over again, I decided to make my own pattern from it.

chain 48 (J hook) Size: Infant

Row 1: dc in 4th ch from hook. Dc in each ch, in last ch (2dc, ch3, 4dc, 3ch, 2dc) dc in next 44 st, and do same at end ( )Also, keep in mind that 4ch counts as the last dc of the 2, so slip stitch into it.

Row 2: ch 3, dc in each stitch (4 dc in each ch 3 sp) 48 st per side

Row 3: dc in each st. Corner do 4dc in between 4 previous corner stitches. (Repeat this row two more times) Finish off.

Sleeves: chain 22, join, dc around 7 times. (22 st)

Yoke: Attach yarn at top right corner.

Row 1: Ch 3, dc in each next 15 st, then (dc in each 22 st on one sleeve to attach it), dc in next 32 dc, (dc in each 22 st to attach other sleeve), then dc in each remaining 16 dc.

Row 2: Ch 3, dc in each next 13 st (leaving last loop on hook) dc in next 4 sp, yo hook and draw through all five loops (decrease type 1). dc in each next 18 dc, decrease again, dc in next 28, decrease again, dc in next18, decrease again, dc in next 14.

Row 3: Ch 3, dc in each next 11 st, (decrease by holding on to two loops from two dc, skipping 1 dc, and dc in two more stitches, then pull through 5 loops) (All other decrease in pattern will follow this one for now one) , dc in next 14 st, decrease, dc in next 24 dc, decrease, dc in next 14 dc, decrease, dc in last 12 st.

Row 4: Ch 3, dc in each next 9 st, decrease, dc in next 10 dc, decrease, dc in next 20 dc, decrease, dc in next 10 dc, decrease, dc in last 10 st.

Row 5: Ch 3, dc in each ext 7 dc, decrease, dc in each 6 dc, decrease, dc in next 16 dc, decrease, dc in next 6 dc, decrease, dc in last 8 st. Finish off.

If wanted add strings for tying around start of yolk.

It is easy to make a mistake in pattern directions, if one should be found please let me know.

Chicken Jackets

No, your eyes aren't playing tricks. This pattern is for chicken jackets. These will help keep your little hens warm in the winter, and allow their feathers to grow back if the rooster balded them.

Make out of worsted weight, and an I hook. (Keep in mind that the larger the chicken, the larger you will have to make this pattern. Try to cover the broadest part of your birds back, with at least 1.5 inches to go down under the wings so the saddle is held down)

Also, understand that all hens will not wear a saddle. I never had an injury occur, but do suggest watching your girls for awhile after putting one of these on. Make sure the saddle isn't to tight, you should be able to fit a few fingers between the bird and the loops. This saddle has helped several of my hens re-grow their feather.

Easy: (chain, half double crochet)

Pattern
Row 1: Chain 26, and hdc (half double crochet) in next 25 chains.
Row 2: Hdc in each 25 chains. (25 stitches throughout) Keep this up until you hit desired length, you will want it to go from top of wings on the back, to the tip of the tail, average is 6 inches)
Row 3: Chain 20, slip stitch in last had (making loop) turn
Row 4: Slip stitch through next 5 st, chain 30 (making another loop), and sl st in last 5 stitches. Fasten off, and weave in tail.

To put on
20 st loop goes around the neck/chest
30 st loop, pull wings up through it, so that it can rest under the wings to be held in place. Loop should rest around the chest.
